MEDIATION partner
REC (Regional Environment Centre for Central and Eastern
Europe) organized a Capacity Building Workshop Adaptation to Climate
Change in the Agricultural Sector of South Eastern Europe. The workshop was held
on 4 November at the Gellert Hotel in Budapest and aimed to facilitate the process of
developing long-term strategies for adapting agriculture to the current and
foreseen climate change impacts by raising awareness and providing a platform
for exchange of information. Various experts from
the region presented an
overview of the state of knowledge in the SEE region with respect to climate
projections, outputs of hydrological and meteorological models and the impacts
of climate change on the hydrological cycle in relation to the agricultural
sector. The event brought together different stakeholders from the west Balkan,
including decision-makers on the national and municipal levels, NGOs,
representatives of academia and the civil society. MEDIATION team members
discussed the development of a user-friendly
integrated methodology to address challenges provided by climate change, the
development of a toolbox for vulnerability assessment , good practice in
adaptation policies and measures, and the plans for a MEDIATION common platform and the
EU. Presentations and a workshop report
